WSIB Offers Rebates and Recognition – Health and Safety Excellence Program

limited-time financial support to help businesses with 1 - 99 employees

WSIB has launched limited-time financial support to help smaller businesses (i.e. those with 1-99 full-time employees) recover from the pandemic and improve their workplace health and safety. Deadline is December 31, 2022.

The WSIB has introduced new incentives for Small-Medium Sized Businesses with 99 employees or less to join the Health and Safety Excellence program (HSEp).

  • Giving each Business $1,000 towards the costs of their health and safety plan
  • Increasing the maximum rebates from 75 per cent to 100 per cent of the total WSIB premiums that a business paid the previous year
  • Doubling the rebates for each program topic completed in 2022
  • Applying the rebate increases retroactively for every topic finished since March 2020 for businesses that create a 2022 action plan

The intention of these programs is to offset the HSEp registration fee and encourage more Ontario businesses to implement preventative measures aimed at eliminating injury and illness in the workplace.
