a City Services Profile will help to inform the upcoming 2019 budget deliberations

The Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce applauds City Council for their request for a City Services Profile that will help to inform the upcoming 2019 budget deliberations. The report will allow Councillors to see what services the city offers and their costs, as well as which services are mandated by the Province, and which are considered non-essential.

“The Chamber is pleased that information on the City’s essential and non-essential services and their costs will be available as part of the 2019 budget. We believe that these details will be helpful to Council members and the community and will enhance transparency around spending decisions,” says Charla Robinson, President of the Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce.

Over the past 5 years, the Chamber of Commerce has repeatedly requested a review of the City’s core and non-core services as part of a process to help identify potential cost savings for taxpayers.
